New Shia board a gimmick: AIMPLB
LUCKNOW: The newly-formed Shia Personal Law Board said on Sunday the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has neglected them.
Maulana Athar said: "The board has not been formed as a parallel body to the Muslim law board. Our community has its own religious, social, educational, political and cultural problems and this board would strive to solve them.

Shias should get their due," he said.
After the Bareilvis, who set up their own board, the AIMPLB had lost much of its significance, he said.
The Muslim Jagriti Manch, however, termed Sunday''s meeting as a flop show and criticised formation of the Shia Board. In a statement, its president Syed Kalbe Hussain, son of AIMPLB vice-president Kalbe Saddiaq, said: "The new board has failed to elicit support of the Shia community. At the meeting hardly 100 people were present.
Rejecting the claim that interest of the Shias has been ignored, AIMPLB spokesman S Q R Iliyasi termed formation of the new board as an attempt to grab media attention.
